Louisville - Stop #1 in Kentucky

State #28 Kentucky! We could not go through Kentucky and not stop in Louisville for some bourbon tasting (my drink of choice!) on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. This trail takes you on a journey through the state's most famous bourbon distilleries where you get a chance to learn about the bourbon-making process, tour the distilleries, and of course, sample some of the best bourbon in the world. We stayed at the Louisville North Campground (9/2022) just across the bridge just minutes outside the downtown. This RV park was honestly not that good other than its proximity and the price was at least somewhat right. It’s interesting but unfortunate when you can totally tell a campground that is comfortable cashing in on its location and does not really have to try to compete otherwise.

We did a few activities while we were here thanks to a birthday gift from my dad and family. Those included horseback riding and a great dinner at Repeal Steakhouse downtown. Besides the Kentucky Bourton Trail, Louisville is also home of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs so we also visited that as well. We toured the museum and joined in on the daily tour of the racetrack before heading to nearby Angel’s Envy for their distillery tour and tasting. This is one of my favorites when I’m splurging on a nicer bottle that is unique for being finished in port wine barrels. While some bourbon distilleries are out in the surrounding countryside, there are a few tasting rooms and distilleries that operate in the city that make up the Kentucky Urban Bourbon Trail.
